Who is Jesus?

March 30, 2011

So who is Jesus?

Jesus is the only Son of God. The Bible states this in several places:

The Holy Spirit came down on Him like a dove, and a voice came from Heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love, and I am very pleased with you.”  ~Mark 1:10-11

A child has been born to us;
God has given a son to us.
He will be responsible for leading the people.
His name will be Wonderful Counselor, Powerful God,
Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.  ~Isaiah 9:6

This is what God commands: that we believe in his Son, Jesus Christ, and that we love each other, just as he commanded. ~1 John 3:23

Why did Jesus come?

All of us humans sin and cannot be reunited with God, who is holy, holy, holy (~Revelation 4:8). We can try to do good, avoid bad actions, and hope that our good actions outweigh the bad ones, but we are still sinful people who cannot unite with the holy God. Jesus is God’s solution for us.

God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

I tell you the truth, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread that gives life… Anyone who eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give up so that the world may have life. ~John 6:44-51

Anyone who believes in the Son of God has the truth that God told us. Anyone who does not believe makes God a liar, because that person does not believe what God told us about his Son. This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ~1 John 5:10-12

Jesus, is our only way to eternal life.
